Your audio stays
in your pocket.

Who makes the app

Peppers Ghost Innovations operates Peppers.Ghöst Pocket Studio. Questions can be sent to peppersghost.io@gmail.com.

Files and settings on your phone

The app has no advertising, analytics or microphone recording. When you choose an audio file using Android’s document picker, the app copies it into its private storage for playback. It does not upload your recordings. Your original file is unchanged. Saved visions and their settings are stored locally.

The app does not request broad access to your file library. Vision exports are settings-only JSON files written to a destination you choose; they do not include recordings. Imported recipes are validated before saving.

Purchase and membership verification

Pocket 0.12 and later sends your purchase email and library license code during activation, or your beta invitation code if you choose that route. It sends a hashed Android device identifier and phone model to bind membership to this installation. Subsequent checks send an activation reference and private refresh credential, not your email or license code. The website stores purchase and membership status, device references and check times. Android KeyStore encryption protects the saved credential on this phone. Website passwords are not collected by the app. No recordings, equations, Visions, track names or creative settings are included in membership requests. Clearing or signing out of membership does not delete creative files. Website account data is covered by the website privacy notice.

Background playback and media controls

After you press Play, a local Android media service keeps processing your audio when the screen locks or you switch apps. The system media notification can display the recording’s name and playback controls on your lock screen; Android’s notification privacy settings control their visibility. This does not upload your audio or add a microphone permission. Online songs continue using data while playing in the background.

Recording and exporting your sound

Record captures the app’s internal processed output, not your microphone. Temporary rendered audio is stored locally. WAV and MP3 files are saved through Android’s destination picker; a chosen cloud-backed destination may transfer the saved file according to that provider’s settings. MP3 encoding runs on your device. The app itself does not upload these exports. Saved files outside the app’s private storage remain where you chose to save them, even if you uninstall the app.

Optional online songs

The optional demonstration songs are hosted using Supabase and stream over HTTPS when you choose a song and start playback. Rendering a full demonstration song also downloads a temporary local copy and can use mobile data or Wi-Fi. Those requests disclose your IP address and request information to the hosting service, which may retain operational logs. Your imported recordings are not included in these requests.

Downloads and support

This website is hosted by Vercel. Visiting it or downloading the APK generates ordinary server requests, including IP address and browser/request information. The website’s general privacy policy also applies when you browse it. If you email us, we receive the contact details and information you include to respond to your request. Please avoid sending private recordings or unrelated personal information.

Deleting and backing up

You can delete saved visions in the app. Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes its local recordings and visions. Android automatic backup is disabled for this beta. Keep your original audio files and export important vision recipes; there is no cloud backup or synchronization. Device-local storage is not a claim of end-to-end encryption.

Changes

We will update this information when data practices change. Purchases and membership management take place through your website account; creative files remain on your phone. VST synchronization is not implemented.
